Two passengers were brutally assaulted and dragged onto the floor of a Central Line train after being approached by a pair of women.

The female victims were assaulted while on board the Tube towards Leytonstone Underground station on June 5 around 7.40pm.

They had been confronted by two other women, who went on to become abusive and aggressive, according to British Transport Police.

One of the women was punched several times in the face before she was pulled to floor by her hair.

Whilst on the floor the victim was kicked and spat at. When the other woman tried to intervene and help her friend, she was also punched in the head.

Police have released the CCTV images of the two women they would like to speak to regarding the attack.

Officers believe they may have information which could help their investigation.
