CES Fighter Devin Carrier Killed in Car Crash

CES MMA veteran Devin Carrier was killed in a single-car crash on Saturday in Plymouth County, Mass., according to a report from SouthCoastToday.com.

Citing information from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, SouthCoastToday reported that Carrier, 21, “was driving a 2010 Honda Civic when the vehicle crashed into the woods and struck a tree at about 12:30 p.m.

“Both Carrier and his passenger were trapped in the car. A medical helicopter was called and responded to the scene, but his condition could not be stabilized for the flight, State Police said. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”

Carrier's passenger, an unidentified 19-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Massachusetts State Police have an ongoing investigation of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information can call the State Police at 508-947-2222.

Training alongside UFC fighters Joe Lauzon, Joe Proctor, and Tom Lawlor at Lauzon Mixed Martial Arts, Carrier last fought at CES MMA 35 in April, where he defeated Wayne Ahlquist by way of TKO stoppage. He was scheduled to fight this Friday at CES MMA 37.

“Devin brought passion and work ethic to the cage.” said Pat Sullivan of CES MMA. “He was loved and well respected by not only his coaches and training partners, but all that he came into contact with. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Carrier family and Lauzon Mixed Martial Arts family.”
