Manchester City have exited the Champions League with barely a whimper after losing their semi final against Real Madrid 1-0.

Champions League: Man City knocked out after insipid semi final performance

A desperately disappointing Champions League semi final performance, has seen Real Madrid set up a mouth-watering Madrid derby final against Atletico.

Manchester City were second-best throughout the match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and lost 1-0 on the night, and on aggregate, thanks to a 20th minute goal from Gareth Bale.

For City it was a dismal night, losing captain Vincent Kompany to injury once again, and barely had a shot on target - just one from four attempts all night.

Manuel Pellegrini and his men must now turn their attention to securing a top-four place in the Premier League to secure Champions League football for incoming boss Pep Guardiola.
