The Spain international striker suffered a hamstring injury early in the final match of the Liga season, as Atletico held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw that gave Diego Simeone's side the title.

He was expected to miss the European final against Real on Saturday, and possibly even the World Cup, but he has made the starting XI in Lisbon.

Team-mate and Turkey winger Arda Turan missed out though having suffered a minor pelvic injury at the Camp Nou. He is not even on the bench.

Atletico hoped he would be fit to play but he has not even made the bench.

For Real Madrid, Karim Benzema is fit to start despite earlier rumours that he would miss out with a hamstring injury.

Pepe though is only fit enough for a place on the bench after his recent hamstring injury with Raphaël Varane get the start.

Sami Khedira also earns a starting berth as the German comes in for the suspended Xabi Alonso.
