The Spain international striker suffered a hamstring injury early in the final match of the Liga season, as Atletico held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw that gave Diego Simeone's side the title.

He was expected to miss the European final against Real on Saturday, and possibly even the World Cup, but according to Spanish radio Costa is said to be preparing for the starting XI in Lisbon.

It would not be the first time Costa has made a remarkably quick recovery. Last month he recovered within a week from both a hamstring strain and a nasty gash on his shin.

Team-mate and Turkey winger Arda Turan is also set to start, having suffered a minor pelvic injury at the Camp Nou.

Real, who have been resting star player Cristiano Ronaldo to ensure his fitness, welcome back the Portugal striker and Wales winger Gareth Bale, although Xabi Alonso is suspended and Pepe injured.
