Championship axe sharpens again as Coventry City prepare Frank Lampard coronation
Tim Walter is expected to lose his job at Hull City as the Championship carousel of managerial changes shows no signs of slowing down.
Walter was appointed to replace Liam Rosenior in the summer after Hull missed out on the play-offs but they currently sit 22nd ahead of an away day at Middlesbrough this weekend. Walters "was booed and jeered" throughout a 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday and his future is top of the agenda when owner Acun Ilicali chairs a board meeting today.
It comes as Coventry City prepare to fill the vacancy left by Mark Robins' exit two weeks ago and an agreement in principle is believed to have been reached to make Frank Lampard the new boss.

HullLive report: "Ilicali has been staunch in his support for Walter in recent weeks, telling Hull Live during the international break that he backed the former Hamburg chief to turn things around, while he doubled down on that support ahead of Tuesday's clash with the Owls.
"The manner of the performance against Wednesday, who scored twice through Josh Windass and Michael Smith, coupled with the growing level of anger from the terraces, has boxed Ilicali into a position he didn't want to be in, but ultimately has been left with little alternative but to make a change."
Coventry have for a substantial time avoided being involved in the rollercoaster of managerial comings and goings in the Championship, where nine clubs have already changed bosses since the end of last season. But Robins ended a long stay at the wheel in early November and owner Doug King has since been searching for his first appointment.
Lampard could be unveiled as soon as today and will be joined by former Millwall manager Joe Edwards, who had worked alongside him at Chelsea and Everton
.Omer Riza remains only in interim charge at Cardiff City, having taken over the reins from Erol Bulut in September. He has taken 15 points from his 10 games in charge and is now long odds-on to get the role on a permanent basis, having met with owner Vincent Tan in Malaysia during the international break.
Riza said last week: “For me, it was really important we met face to face. We’ve spoken a lot on the phone. It was important for me he asked me to go over there. It wasn’t easy [in terms of travel], but we’ve done it. The conversations were very respectful and honest. I’m glad I went.
"I got there on Thursday, then met on Friday, had a good chat, really intriguing, and it’s great to see what Mr. Tan has achieved in the course of his lifetime."
Meanwhile, Carlos Corberan insists he is “completely focused” on his work with West Bromwich Albion and branded links to the Leicester City job as “speculation”.
Asked about links to the vacancy at the King Power Stadium, Corberan told the Express and Star: “I can only say how focused I am at West Bromwich, how proud I feel to be the coach of this amazing club. I understand that football always has speculation around, but I didn’t even know that Leicester’s coach was sacked, for example, until last night (Monday). There is so much speculation that can appear out of my control.
“I am completely focused in my work, my club, to get better form, to give fans better results. Hopefully our fans don’t feel any type of lack of respect because there are always things in the media we cannot control.”
