Championship club said to have tabled significant bid for ex-Town forward Twine

FORMER Swindon Town striker Scott Twine is said to have attracted a seven-figure bid from Championship club Hull City this summer.

The Telegraph's John Percy claims the Tigers have put in an offer of £3 million to Milton Keynes Dons for Twine's services, although that figure could rise with add-ons if a deal is agreed.

According to the MK Citizen, should MK accept that bid, it would be the second-highest fee the club has commanded in its short history after Dele Alli’s £5 million fee paid for by Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.

Twine moved to MK Dons at the end of his Town contract last summer and signed a “long-term deal” at Stadium:MK, going on to help Liam Manning's side finish third in League One - just a point off automatic promotion.

But due to the Swindon-born forward being under 24 at the time of his departure from Wiltshire, an independent tribunal set the transfer fee MK were required to pay.

Town received £300,000 last season while Twine's next move would see Swindon recoup 20 per cent of any future sale.

The promising talent could be on the move once again though just 12 months after arriving at the Buckinghamshire outfit due to MK failing in their bid to reach the Championship via the play-offs last month.

Despite the disappointment for MK, Twine enjoyed a superb campaign on a personal level.

Having made 49 appearances, he topped the scoring charts with 20 goals, including a club record-equalling four in a single game, won a Player of the Month prize, was named MK's Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, and was named League One Player of the Season too.

And with 13 assists to his name too, Twine became one of the hottest properties in the division and is expected to move on from Stadium:MK with a whole host of potential suitors sniffing around.

Adver Sport previously reported that up to seven Premier League and Championship clubs had Twine's name on their shortlist of summer targets, however, at the time of writing Hull were not included in that number.

West Ham United, Burnley, Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough, Stoke City, and Nottingham Forest are all said to be keen on bringing the striker in before next season.

MK are likely to have to swat away several more offers from a handful more clubs this summer if they are to hold on to one of their most prized assets.
