The 47-year-old won all three of his group games as he finished top of the group and claimed the £3,000 in prize money.
Williams kicked off the day with a 3-1 win over Rory McLeod - who recently missed out on a tour card at Q School.
The Welshman then returned to action in the evening session and enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Andrew Pagett before beating his main group rival Li Hang by three frames to one.

Hang, who also beat Pagett but could only draw with McLeod, finished the group in second - five points adrift of the eventual winner. Elsewhere, former world championship semi-finalist Gary Wilson joined Williams in the winner's circle. Wilson kicked off his new season with a 3-0 win over Harvey Chandler. He returned to action in the evening session, where he drew 2-2 with Barry Pinches before thrashing Jak Jones 3-0.

The 36-year-old is now though to the second stage and also bagged £3,000 in prize money. Jones finished the group in second, having got the better of Chandler. However, a draw against Pinches and a defeat to Wilson left him three points adrift of top.
