Paul Pogba delivers withering assessment of Man Utd under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position as Manchester United manager is coming under further scrutiny as Paul Pogba claimed “we need to change” after the calamitous defeat by Leicester.

Pogba delivered a withering assessment of United’s travails under Solskjaer ahead of a potentially pivotal stage of the season, as their 29-game unbeaten away run in the Premier League came to a shattering end.

United had been forced to defend their decision to fly from Manchester before kick-off and were then scrambled by an inspired Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Solskjaer has lost four of his past seven matches and is now preparing for another crucial week, with home games against Atalanta in the Champions League and Liverpool in the league up next.

United had taken the lead after Mason Greenwood’s stunning strike but conceded four goals to increase the pressure on their beleaguered manager, with Pogba issuing a brutally honest verdict on the defeat.

“To be honest, we have been having these kind of games for a long time. We have not found the problem, conceding easy goals, stupid goals,” said Pogba.

“We need to be more mature, play with more experience and arrogance in a good way. We need to find something, we need to change."

Solskjaer came under further pressure for his decision to start Harry Maguire, who produced a poor performance against his former club on his recovery from a calf injury.

Cristiano Ronaldo also endured a miserable afternoon while there was another worryingly anonymous performance from £73 million-signing Jadon Sancho.

Solskjaer said: "We need to look at the whole set-up of the team, the whole balance of the team - maybe something has to give for it.

"It shouldn't be a wake-up call because we've had them before. One result in isolation that can be [small] margins but then we've had too many games that we've lost points.

“We weren’t good enough and were too easy to play through. All the goals were disappointing, how we conceded them.

“We weren't good enough in 50/50s, the things that make you earn the right to win a game of football. It says everything when your best player is David [De Gea] but still we conceded four goals.”
