Charlton manager Nigel Adkins says he is thankful to have been double jabbed as he recovers from Covid.

Adkins is self-isolating at home after contracting Covid last week and on Monday morning he posted a video on Twitter to update fans on his condition.

The 56-year-old has had two Covid vaccinations and said he “hates to think what it would have been like if I hadn’t have done that”.

Adkins said: “I’m recovering from Covid. It’s like a big, heavy bout of flu, that’s how I’d describe it.

“Thank you for everybody who sent some get well messages. I really appreciate it.

“Covid is on the rise, so let’s keep ourselves safe and be sensible in everything we are doing.

“I am thankful that I have had two vaccinations. I hate to think what it would have been like, or could have been like, if I hadn’t have done that.

“If anything, if you haven’t had your vaccination, maybe it is a good time to think about making sure you get them done.”

With Adkins isolating, Charlton assistant Johnnie Jackson took charge of their 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Dartford on Saturday.
