Everton are reportedly considering making an offer for Southampton striker Che Adams on a loan-to-buy transfer.

After strengthening his depleted centre-back options with the signing of Conor Coady on loan from Wolves, Frank Lampard’s focus has now switched to doing likewise with the striker position.

The Merseysiders were forced to play Anthony Gordon as a centre-forward in their season-opening loss to Chelsea. That was due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin being ruled out for six weeks through injury.

Salomon Rondon was also banned for that game but will be back to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

But with Richarlison sold for big money in the summer, striker was always a position Lampard wanted to bolster.

And according to The Athletic, Adams is firmly on Everton’s radar. However, the report adds that while Southampton’s public stance on the forward is that he not for sale, privately they are open to offers.

The Scotland international has scored 26 goals in 90 Premier League appearances for Saints since signing in 2019.

However, he was an unused substitute in the 4-1 thumping at Tottenham on the opening weekend.

That has led to more rumours of an exit, with both Nottingham Forest and Leeds United linked with moves.

But The Athletic states that Lampard is considering Adams, along with Coventry’s Viktor Gykoeres and Strasbourg’s Ludovic Ajorque.

Coady the latest Everton addition

The Toffees have had a fairly busy summer so far, having landed James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil and Amadou Onana permanently, Coady also penned his loan deal on Monday evening.

Indeed, the former Liverpool man cannot wait to get started in the blue of Everton.

He said, when speaking with evertontv about the move: “It’s incredible to join Everton. As soon as I heard the interest, from the manager but also the Football Club itself, I really wanted to be part of it straight away. I’m over the moon to join.

“I’ve grown up around the city. I know the Football Club, how big this club is and what it means to the supporters. I’m someone who was desperate to come here, to play for this club. I’ve got family and friends who are massive Evertonians.

“I’m here to give absolutely everything I’ve got for this football club. It’s important I work as hard as I can to help my teammates, help the Club move forward and make people proud.”
