Chelsea have been linked with a move for Monaco right-back Vanderson.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to London rivals Tottenham this summer, although football.london understands those reports were wide of the mark. Vanderson has impressed for Monaco in recent seasons with his performances earning him two caps for Brazil.

CaughtOffside have claimed that the Brazilian is attracting strong interest from Stamford Bridge. It is said that Monaco would want up to €40million (around £33m) for his signature amid claims that Manchester United are also interested.

Rumoured interest in Vanderson would make sense for Chelsea as Reece James continues to struggle badly with injuries. Mario Gusto has filled in well but the Frenchman is also currently injured leaving the Blues short in that position.

Vanderson has a contract at Monaco until 2028 so is unlikely to come cheap. After spending heavily in recent windows, the Blues must be weary of their PSR position to avoid breaching the Premier League's financial rules and a potential points deduction.

But they could be helped when it comes to signing Vanderson with Monaco often open to selling their big stars. The Ligue 1 side sold star midfielder Youssouf Fofana to AC Milan last summer with previous big names including Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez also departing in recent years.

Whether Chelsea's PSR concerns could restrict them in a potential bidding war with United or Spurs remains to be seen. Ten Hag's squad has been strengthened in the position this summer though with Noussair Mazraoui arriving to provide competition to Diogo Dalot.

Tottenham meanwhile are likely to be more in need of a right-back after Emerson Royal's departure and with doubts over Djed Spence's ability to provide competition for Pedro Porro. However, if Enzo Maresca's team can beat Spurs to a top four finish, the allure of Champions League football may sway Vanderson's decision towards a move to Stamford Bridge.
