Enzo Maresca is reportedly more than happy with Jadon Sancho's eagerness - as the Chelsea winger is said to have shown up for training earlier than expected.

Despite his heavy struggles at Manchester United, Sancho hit the ground running in a Blues shirt during their 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth on Saturday (September 14).

His performance was topped off by a game-winning assist for Christopher Nkunku's goal, wrapping up a successful start at his new club despite not featuring in the Premier League for over a year.

His impact wasn't limited to the pitch; according to GiveMeSport, Sancho made quite an impression at Cobham training grounds from day one after arriving on transfer deadline day in a loan move, with an obligation for Chelsea to buy him for £25million next summer.

Sources claim that the ex-England international was consistently turning up for training early throughout his first week at the club, while also making the effort to greet and introduce himself to the staff, reports the Mirror.

Maresca has been vocal in his praise for Sancho, particularly after his influential 45-minute appearance on Saturday. Speaking about him, the Blues manager said: "Very happy, very happy for him.

"He was very good, I have a feeling that Jadon is a guy that needs love. This is what I thought when I spoke with him before he joined us. Also I know he has the desire to show the player he is, but for me, it is just to enjoy football.

"This is the reason why they play. Jadon helped us a lot but what he did tonight is exactly what we expected from him. As I said, I know Jadon very good because I watched him many, many times in the past and I know what he can give us."

Chelsea are bracing themselves for a tough series of matches ahead, with Liverpool and Newcastle on the horizon. One fixture that will undoubtedly be circled on Sancho's calendar is the upcoming battle against his old club at Old Trafford, set for November 3.

Despite Sancho's departure from Old Trafford, club captain Bruno Fernandes congratulated his former team-mate in the form of an Instagram comment when responding to Sancho's post celebrating the win with a photo of him and Nkunku.

After writing he was "delighted" to win on his Chelsea debut, the Portugal international commented: "Some player you [fire emoji] keep that smile."
