Chelsea captain John Terry has been named the Premier League's 'most loyal player' in a new CIES Football Observatory study.

Terry is regarded as a legend at Stamford Bridge, having joined the Blues as a teenager before progressing through the youth system and claiming the skipper's armband.

The 36-year-old, who has been part of Chelsea's first-team fold for almost 19 years, has won a host of trophies during his spell in west London.

And no other current player in England's top-tier can better Terry's longevity at a single club. Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is second, having spent 12 and a half years at Old Trafford.

Arsenal midfielder Theo Walcott (11 years) and West Ham skipper Mark Noble (10 years) occupy third and fourth place respectively.

The title of Europe's most loyal player belongs to Francesco Totti, who has spent an astonishing 24 years at Roma.

Meanwhile, Terry may have secured legendary status at Chelsea but his future remains uncertain.

Terry has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, who rarely finds room for his captain in a preferred 3-4-3 formation.

The veteran defender's contract expires at the end of the season and Standard Sport understands several Chinese Super League clubs are monitoring Terry's situation.
