Manchester United should consider signing outgoing Chelsea captain John Terry in the summer, according to Danny Mills. The veteran defender is set to leave the Blues at the end of the season and is courting interest from a host of clubs both in England and overseas, and Mills thinks Jose Mourinho's side should explore the possibility of bringing the four-time Premier League winner to Old Trafford.
Terry excelled under Mourinho during the Portuguese's first stint at Stamford Bridge, and Mills thinks the former England captain could learn some key managerial pointers from his former manager at the Theatre of Dreams.
"Even to have him on the training pitch, around the place, that experience [would be good for Manchester United]," Mills told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I think JT's doing his coaching badges as well at the moment. I'm sure he'd want to learn again from that side of it."
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam echoed Mills' controversial sentiments. The former Liverpool and Blackpool maestro believes Terry would bring leadership and a winning mentality to Old Trafford, and thinks a short-term deal for Chelsea stalwart would not do United any harm whatsoever.
"I couldn't see Terry in a Manchester United shirt but if I was a Mourinho I would go and take him. I'd say to him, 'listen, come and play for a year'. And why not, he's a leader, a winner."
A move from Chelsea to Manchester United seems rather unlikely for Terry, who has been starved of game-time this season. The Champions League and Europa League winner was handed a brief cameo by Conte during the table toppers' 4-2 victory over Southampton on Tuesday night (25 April) and will hope to be afforded more minutes when Chelsea travel to face Everton, who have won their last eight consecutive home matches, at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
