Manchester City manager hinted he was delighted that his team were able to get a point against a clearly improving Chelsea side.

In what was one of the games of the season Chelsea showed significant mental strength to earn a point by coming back three times.

Former Manchester City players Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer both scored with Palmer's finish a dagger in the heart of Manchester City.

In the last year, this was one of the games that Chelsea would have easily lost but here they showed once again that they had what it takes to climb up the table.

Asked what he made of Chelsea's rapid development, the Blues manager said that was a question for his opposite number but was quick to say Chelsea was Chelsea.

Guardiola told reporters: "Chelsea is Chelsea my friend, one of the most incredible teams of the last 25 years and for me, it's much a sign of great things that we have not lost a game against them.

"I think the question of their progress is a question for their manager but for me, it's more a surprise that we have not lost against them for a long time."

Chelsea showed incredible mental strength and have lost only one of the last eight games even though they will admit the home record is not that great with just one league win in their last seven home games.

But it is undeniable that they are going places now and will be desperate to go to Newcastle after the international break with the aim of getting something from Eddie Howe's side.
