Chelsea look set to continue their heavy investment in wonderkids from the South American region - with 'talks' progressing for Sport Recife teenager Pedro Lima.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover of the club in 2022, they have placed emphasis on recruiting youngsters for the future within their transfer policy.

Many of the Blues' signings have been focused on the best young talents from around the world. Some haven't yet lived up to expectations, but the likes of Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto are proving their worth already.

Angelo Gabriel, Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington have all arrived from Brazil, with Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian all joining Chelsea in 2025 when they turn 18. Now, it appears Lima will be the next candidate through the South America scouting department.

Reports have claimed that the Blues are in 'advanced negotiations' for the 17-year-old, with a fee of around €8m said to be agreed. Recife, who play in the second tier in Brazil, are set to receive their record fee for a player.

Lima, who has been called 'the next Cafu', has been linked with Barcelona, PSG and Juventus. However, Chelsea are now reportedly edging closer to finalising a move.

According to Globo, Recife's president, Yuri Romao, flew to London earlier this week. The reason for the trip was not confirmed, but it does hint that a deal could be concluded soon.

Should the deal be completed in the near future, Lima could become the first signing under Enzo Maresca. The Italian is close to becoming Chelsea's new head coach after days of negotiations.
