A report has revealed the surprisingly close relationship between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain sporting adviser Luis Campos, with the chief considering a move to Stamford Bridge.

Campos was appointed by PSG in June last year. He was brought in by the Ligue 1 giants to help them sign some of the world’s best players and to also help them towards their ultimate goal of finally winning the Champions League.

PSG decided on Campos as their new sporting adviser – which is similar to a director of football role – following his successful spells at rival French clubs Monaco and Lille.

While working as Monaco’s sporting director between August 2014 and June 2016, the Portuguese football expert completed the captures of top players such as Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Radamel Falcao and Thomas Lemar.

Campos had similar success in the transfer market with Lille, whom he joined in July 2017. He aided their signings of Sven Botman, Jonathan David and Victor Osimhen.

When linking up with PSG, Campos said he was ‘delighted’ to become a part of ‘the most ambitious and exciting club in world football’. However, things have not gone to plan this season.

Even with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi in the squad, PSG have once again failed in their pursuit of Champions League glory. They were knocked out by Bayern Munich in the round of 16, with the Bundesliga side picking up a 3-0 aggregate win.

French source Foot Mercato have now provided a bombshell update on Campos’ future and what he thinks about PSG. They claim the 58-year-old was not impressed by the performances of his team  in both legs against Bayern, while he has also questioned the squad’s attitude.

Luis Campos gets in touch with Chelsea

Campos knows his job is under threat at the Parc des Princes due to the latest UCL setback. Therefore, he is looking at potential next destinations.

One club he would like to join is Chelsea. Campos has apparently established ‘good relations’ with the Blues. He has been ‘in constant contact’ with Chelsea officials since the start of 2023.

Should Campos be sacked by PSG, then he will aim to use this relationship with Chelsea to join their exciting project under chairman Todd Boehly.

And Campos could help Boehly land arguably the world’s best player in Mbappe.

Campos knows Mbappe will also have been left reeling by PSG’s UCL exit. The striker’s main goal is to win the competition for his hometown club, but that dream only appears to be getting further and further away.

Should Campos move to Chelsea, then he will do all he can to take Mbappe with him to west London. Due to Boehly’s huge financial power, Chelsea should be able to meet Mbappe’s contract demands, too.

Unfortunately for Chelsea supporters, it will not be simple to get the World Cup winner to join. After all, he will only want to play for a UCL side when departing PSG.

Chelsea will miss out on UCL qualification this term as they currently sit in 10th, 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.

Due to this, Chelsea will have to put on an incredible charm offensive to get Mbappe to give up one season of UCL football in order to join their project. They will have to hand him huge money and convince him that they will challenge for big trophies next season in order to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have surprisingly landed on a former Manchester United player as a replacement for Mason Mount.
