Chelsea ‘definitely’ in the hunt for phenomenal winger after scouting missions but Liverpool, Tottenham still lurking
Chelsea are reportedly “definitely” one of the clubs that are closely watching winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with a view to a transfer for him.
Kvaratskhelia has been on an astronomical rise over the past couple of seasons. The winger first showed his talents while playing for Rubin Kazan.
His best tally in a season for the Russian side was four goals and eight assists in 23 games.
He then cancelled his contract with the side, and showed his talents in his native Georgia for a little time earlier in 2022.
Kvaratskhelia played 11 games for Dinamo Batumi, and was directly involved in 10 goals in those games.
He was quickly snapped up by Serie A side Napoli, and has been in electric form for the Italian side.
Indeed, he is the joint third-highest goalscorer in Serie A at the moment, with six goals. Alongside those, he has also chipped in with seven assists.
Napoli topped their Champions League group, and a lot of that success can be attributed to the winger. Indeed, he scored two goals and provided three assists in the five games that he featured in.
Kvaratskhelia has been linked with some big teams given his star quality that he has shown of late.
Chelsea join long line of Kvaratskhelia interest
The Premier League has seen a lot of its clubs register an apparent interest in the Napoli star. Liverpool and Tottenham have been the most talked about when it comes to a potential move.
However, they could face a challenge from another big English team. Indeed, insider Simon Phillips has revealed Chelsea have been keeping an eye on Kvaratskhelia.
“Chelsea are definitely one of many clubs that are watching him closely. I know for a fact that Chelsea have scouted him in recent games, so they’ve done fresh scouting missions on him,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
“He’s certainly a player being talked about more and more at Chelsea as a potential target in the future.”
Premier League battle possible
Given there are now multiple sides from the Premier League keen on Kvaratskhelia, a battle could be on for his signature.
He has shown he can cut it against English sides, performing well against Liverpool in the Champions League.
As such, it would be no surprise if each of the interested sides pushed particularly hard to snare him.
While Napoli might not want to see him leave, they could certainly raise a decent fee were that to happen.
