Chelsea FC tease Man City fans Noel and Liam Gallagher with Oasis lyrics during Champions League celebrations
Chelsea cheekily incorporated the lyrics of Oasis as they continued to celebrate their Champions League Final victory over Manchester City in Porto.
An excellent all-round team performance featuring a composed late first-half finish from record signing Kai Havertz saw the Blues win 1-0 at the Estadio do Dragao on Saturday night, sealing only their second triumph in Europe’s elite club competition and first since 2012.
Meanwhile, a chastening night for City means the runaway Premier League champions and Carabao Cup holders have still yet to taste success in the Champions League despite their domestic dominance.
Among the disappointed City fans in Porto - presumably not sitting together - were Gallagher brothers and former Oasis stars Noel and Liam, both lifelong supporters of the club who often attend matches.
To make matters worse for High Flying Birds singer Noel, the heartbreaking defeat came on the occasion of his 54th birthday.
Chelsea’s admin evidently could not resist playful nods to Oasis - who split up in 2009 - songs as they continued to celebrate a memorable achievement across the club’s social media platforms.

A picture of the team celebrating with the trophy in the dressing room after the full-time whistle in Porto was captioned: “Because we need each other, we believe in one another...” - a lyric from Oasis’ classic B-side track ‘Acquiesce’.

Meanwhile, a snap of Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta kissing the trophy came with the tagline: “You and I are gonna live forever…”

A second, stinging ‘Live Forever’ lyric - “We see things you'll never see” - accompanied another celebratory picture posted in the early hours of the morning on Twitter and Instagram.

Chelsea also posted a picture of imperious man-of-the-match N’Golo Kante lifting the Champions League trophy alongside the caption: “Champions of Europe. As you were. NG x” - an obvious reference to the unique style of Liam’s normal tweets to his 3.5 million followers.
Chelsea were still at it on Sunday evening with an iconic ‘Wonderwall’ lyric paired with Thomas Tuchel lifting the trophy: “I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now.”

At the time of writing, neither Gallagher brother had been tempted to issue a riposte to Chelsea’s tweets.
