Chelsea face Brighton tonight in the midst of the backlash created by the announcement of a new European Super League.

Chelsea are one of 12 clubs to confirm themselves as founding members of the controversial competition which could change the face of European football forever.

Thomas Tuchel faced questions over the Blues’ involvement on Monday but said he trusts the club to “make the right decisions”, while the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust has attacked the club over the proposals.

Attentions will turn towards the pitch tonight as Chelsea continue their bid to qualify for the Champions League - though that aim already seems like a long time ago.

Fresh off the back of reaching the FA Cup Final, Tuchel’s side host a free-flowing Brighton outfit who are looking to secure their Premier League survival.
