Chelsea return to action when they travel to Bournemouth on Saturday. The Blues have made a mixed start to their Premier League campaign, having picked up four points from their opening three fixtures.

They started the season with a 2-0 defeat to champions Manchester City, but responded with a thumping 6-2 win at Wolves. The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace before the international period and sit 11th in the Premier League table. Alongside this, Enzo Maresca's side booked their place in the next round of the Conference League after a two-legged victory over Swiss side Servette.

The end to the summer transfer window also made the start to the campaign a little more hectic for Chelsea, but the rumour mill hasn't stopped players from being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. With that in mind, football.london has a look at the latest stories around the club.

Shock Guehi move

Chelsea are planning a surprise move to bring Marc Guehi back to Stamford Bridge next summer. The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the best defenders in the Premier League after impressing for Crystal Palace since his £18million move from the Blues in July 2021.

According to TBR Football, Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Guehi's situation and are ready to make a move to re-sign him in 2025. Palace turned down a £70million bid from Newcastle for Guehi last month but could leave at the end of this season, with his contract set to run out in 2026.

FL says: This is a move that doesn't make sense at all. The Blues are already blessed with depth and quality in that position and they would be better off spending that money - whatever it may be - on another area.

Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo and Levi Colwill are the current first-team central defenders at the club right now, and although one or two of those could leave next summer, do Chelsea really need to add another one to the squad? I don't think so.

It's nothing against Guehi. I think he is a terrific centre-back who will go on to play for England for many years to come and deserves a big move, but Chelsea shouldn't be his destination. If there is a scenario where Chelsea lose three of those five, I would consider them looking at Guehi.

Osimhen move

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is confident that the Blues can sign Victor Osimhen in January, despite the forward joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan earlier this month. Chelsea made a move for Osimhen last month but he ended up making the switch to Turkey instead.

"I could see the ambition of where they want to take this club now and also on Victor’s side, I think if we have to pick this back up again in January or next summer, we know where we are," he said on the Obi One Podcast. "We know where we’ve stopped and it’s just the little details that need to be finalised and the deal will be done."

FL says: I could see this one getting done if allowed. It is not quite clear whether there is a break clause in his contract at Galatasaray or a gentleman's agreement to release him early, but should there be, Chelsea should attempt to sign Osimhen because he could be a difference maker.

Although Nicolas Jackson has started the season with two goals in his first three Premier League matches, I do still think that Chelsea need another prolific No.9 in the squad. Osimihen, having netted 76 goals in 133 matches across his last four seasons, would be ideal candidate for that role.
