TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino thinks Chelsea will ditch Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang next summer.

Aubameyang joined the Blues from FC Barcelona on deadline day in the summer transfer window.

It was the second deadline day transfer of the year for the Gabonese striker, who left Arsenal in January after being banished from the squad by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

His time at the Emirates ended on a very sour note after a disciplinary breach saw him stripped of the captaincy and then made surplus to requirements.

Aubameyang had a decent half-season for Barcelona, scoring 13 goals in 24 matches for the La Liga giants.

He has been pretty average for Chelsea, however, netting three in his opening ten appearances for the Londoners.

Against Brentford on October 19, head coach Graham Potter did not bring Aubameyang off the bench until the 81st minute despite the score level at 0-0.

The 33-year-old then started the draw against Manchester United before being dropped for the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Potter is tinkering around and is still looking to find his strongest XI.

It is unclear whether or not Aubameyang is in that team, with Armando Broja and Kai Havertz competing for a starting berth.

Romelu Lukaku is on loan at Inter Milan after a disappointing first year back at Stamford Bridge and his long-term future in London is uncertain.

Broja recently penned a new long-term contract and Havertz is a player the club will likely stay faithful in.

Aubameyang and Lukaku, on the other hand, could feasibly leave the club next year.

And Blues legend Cascarino says he expects Aubameyang to do just that.

“I’m not even sure Aubameyang is a player that Chelsea will be looking at into next season,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think he will end up happening what happened to him at Barcelona. They brought him to the club, got a big signing then realised quite quickly they have to move away to a better striker.

“I think Chelsea will have to do that as a football club.

“They will come away from Aubameyang by the end of the season.”

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was substituted at half-time of Chelsea’s 4-1 loss at Brighton on Saturday, and Potter has explained his decision to replace him with Edouard Mendy.

The Spanish goalkeeper has impressed in recent weeks with Mendy sat on the bench.

With his side 3-0 down after 45 minutes against his former club, Potter brought him off and has revealed it was due to an injury.

He said: “It was the bottom of his foot, I don’t know it’s too early yet. He was too bad to carry on.

“It’s disappointing for him because he’s in a really good moment.”
