Chelsea make key signing behind scenes as global aim to beat Man United and Liverpool clear
Chelsea have made a key signing behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge with the addition of a new director of partnerships tasked with growing the club globally.
Daniel McEwan has joined the Blues from Formula One team McLaren, where he had been for the last six-and-a-half years, most recently holding the position of director of partnerships, responsible for delivering the marketing for 35 of the team’s partners.
McEwan, who has 15 years experience in the industry, will have the task of aiding Chelsea’s growth on the world stage and ensuring that they try and get ahead of their rivals in reaching fans, both existing and new, with meaningful marketing strategies aimed at growing the club’s fanbase, thus positively impacting the revenue streams which filters down to what the club can do on the pitch.
“Dan brings over 15 years of experience in sport and has a proven track record of managing some of the worlds biggest brands across multiple sports properties,” commented Chelsea’s chief revenue officer Casper Stylsvig via his LinkedIn page.
“Most recently, he led the Partnerships team at McLaren Racing, where he delivered authentic and impactful marketing for a roster of over 35 partners and drove significant revenue growth across the team. His expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to elevate the Chelsea brand on a global stage.

McEwan’s arrival is one of a number of changes that has taken place behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital as owners, with the club aiming to position itself with best-in-class personnel to ensure they maximise the opportunities that lie ahead with the growth in interest in the Premier League in growing markets, such as the United States.
