Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has told Frank Lampard to “get out quickly” as the Londoners “might not win a game until the end of the season”.

Lampard has lost all five of his games in charge since returning to Chelsea as interim head coach.

Chelsea’s latest defeat came on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge against Brentford. An own goal from Cesar Azpilicueta and a finish from Bryan Mbeumo sealed all three points for the Bees.

The Blues are 11th in the Premier League on 39 points and they are just ten clear of the relegation zone.

Lampard is set to be replaced before next season as former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has ‘agreed’ to become the club’s new permanent head coach.

It was initially thought that Lampard had nothing to lose by taking the Chelsea job on an interim basis, but his already damaged reputation has taken a further blow this month. As things stand, it is hard to see him managing in the Premier League again.

Leboeuf thinks Lampard would be wise to “get out quickly”. The club legend has also criticised summer signing Wesley Fofana, who needs to “wake up”.

“We’ve said it all you know,” Leboeuf told ESPN. ‘There is nothing I can say. Maybe to Frank Lampard – get out! Get out quickly.

“There is nothing you can do. They need a win. One win. Three points to make sure they are not going to be relegated.

“Again we’re talking about Chelsea. That’s appalling. But in fact, when you watch all of the games they just deserve to be there.

“I’ve been nice to some players – Wesley Fofana. You have to wake up. They don’t work together. It’s normal to concede goals. That one is an own goal okay that can happen but a little bit of nobody taking responsibility for going for the header.”

He added: “Frank Lampard – get out because you are not going to stay. You might not win a game until the end of the season.”

Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted after his side’s 2-0 victory that he was “surprised” by Lampard’s team selection.

“We were pleased they showed us so much respect. I was surprised. I respect every team, we don’t fear any team,” Frank told reporters.

“We talked about the team when we saw the line-up. It’s still Chelsea, still Stamford Bridge, still unbelievable players. We’ve tried to add layers and work hard on the different systems and principles and the way we were in control of the game was very good.”
