Mason Mount has withdrawn from the England squad and will stay with Chelsea as he recovers from dental surgery ahead of next weekend’s clash with Leicester.

Mount missed Friday night’s 5-0 win over Albania at Wembley after having wisdom teeth removed.

The FA confirmed on Sunday morning that the midfielder will not join up with the England squad for their final World Cup qualifier against San Marino on Monday night.

Mount will instead stay at Chelsea as the 22-year-old targets a return to action against Leicester on Saturday when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Leaders Chelsea will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table in the lunchtime kick-off at the King Power Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel will hope a rest over the international break will benefit Mount, who has played more football than any other Chelsea player since the start of last season.
