Chelsea news LIVE: Maurizio Sarri and Kepa EFL Cup Final fallout, reaction plus transfer ban latest

Chelsea news LIVE

Welcome to Standard Sport's LIVE rolling coverage of the latest Chelsea news as the Blues face up to the fallout of their EFL Cup Final defeat against Manchester City.

Maurizio Sarri's side were much improved from the 6-0 Premier League humbling at Man City last time out, with Chelsea compact and dangerous on the break at Wembley as they took the game to extra time.

Unfortunately for Sarri, his tactical success was overshadowed by an extraordinary standoff with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who appeared to refuse to be substituted with a penalty shootout looming large.

Sarri was left furious on the touchline as Kepa stayed on the field with Willy Caballero waiting, and Man City went on the win the shootout 4-3 to win the EFL Cup.

Both Kepa and Sarri insisted after the match that the standoff was a "big misunderstanding", but the incident dominated post-match discussions - especially with the coach's future at the club in doubt.

As if that wasn't all enough to contend with, we will keep you up to date with Chelsea's Fifa transfer ban as they club intend to appeal a block on them registering players for the next two windows after breaching rules on signing young players.
