Chelsea dropped points at home to Everton on Thursday night after failing to capitalise on long periods of domination.

Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso were guilty of struggling to ignite the Blues at Stamford Bridge, as were Ross Barkley and Saul Niguez off the bench.

Mason Mount put the Blues ahead after 70 minutes, on a night which saw both teams play without several senior stars due to injuries and Covid-19.

But Jarrad Branthwaite backed up a solid performance by Jordan Pickford with a late equaliser to further knock back Chelsea’s title hopes.

Edouard Mendy - 6

Let down by his defenders for Everton’s equaliser. Something that is happening too often of late.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 5

Vital interception denied Alex Iwobi a golden chance in the second-half. Given plenty of space to run into as Everton dropped so deep, without taking full advantage.

Thiago Silva - 7

Was largely on top of what little Everton offered up front. Was not helped by Saul Niguez for Branthwaite’s goal and then denied a winner by a brilliant Pickford save.

Antonio Rudiger - 7

Wasted a good chance with the score at 0-0 when failing to find the target with his head. Repeatedly charged forward as Everton invited Chelsea on.

Reece James - 8

As we’ve seen in recent weeks, he was invited to come inside a lot and caused plenty of problems for Everton. Should have opened the scoring early on when one-on-one with Pickford – but it was his pass that set up Mount’s goal.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 6

In control in midfield to push Everton onto the back foot. Kept trying to find gaps in deep-lying defence without much joy.

Jorginho - 7

Picked up a position high up the pitch to keep turning the screw and applying the pressure on Everton. Repeatedly won the ball in important areas.

Marcos Alonso - 5

Not too much of a defensive remit for him on this occasion and took the opportunity to press high, but did not hurt Everton enough.

Hakim Ziyech - 6

Wonderful turn and cross set up Christian Pulisic in the first-half. Repeatedly found space behind Everton’s defence, but less effective in the second half.

Christian Pulisic - 6

Looked lively early on in a central position, but then struggled as Everton denied him space to run into in the box.

Mason Mount - 8

Quality finish that looked like being so vital. Everton struggled to cope with his movement. Got into dangerous positions in the box repeatedly and probably should have scored more.
