Chelsea are reportedly planning to sign a new striker this summer - but talk of a deal for Napoli's Victor Osimhen is premature.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Osimhen since he fired Napoli to a first Serie A title 33 years last season with 26 goals in 32 games.

The Nigeria international is believed to have a release clause of £113m as the Italian outfit, who limped to a 10th-place finish this season, look to keep hold of their prized assets.

However, Chelsea are now 'not planning' to make a move for Osimhen, according to Fabrizio Romano. Providing an update on the Blues' pursuit of attacking reinforcement this summer, Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Chelsea will sign a new striker this summer as part of next season plans but no negotiations or talks taking place for Victor Osimhen, with or without Lukaku in the deal.

"Chelsea are not planning to go for Osimhen as of now. Lukaku and Broja, expected to leave."

Il Mattino reported earlier in the week that Chelsea could offer Lukaku plus cash to convince Napoli to let Osimhen move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Lukakau has not played for Chelsea since May 2022, spending the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and AS Roma.

The Belgium international has two years remaining on the deal he signed at Stamford Bridge when he re-joined the club for £97.5m in 2021. Armando Broja, meanwhile, spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham.

Enzo Maresca is set to be appointed as the Blues' new head coach this week following Mauricio Pochettino's departure from the club.
