Michy Batshuayi could be about to leave Chelsea for Wolves, after it was revealed that the two clubs are in advanced talks over a deal.

Chelsea have already offloaded one striker in the shape of Romelu Lukaku this summer. Timo Werner is also being linked with an exit. Now, rumours about a departure for Batshuayi are growing as well.

The Belgian striker has endured loan spells away from Chelsea in four of the past five seasons. There have been temporary stints with Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace (twice) and Besiktas.

Now, Batshuayi is back at Chelsea’s disposal. However, he is unlikely to have a big part to play for Thomas Tuchel.

Therefore, he has been linked with another departure in recent days. There have been suggestions of interest from Everton, where he would reunite with Frank Lampard.

But now, the likes of Sky Sports and talkSPORT are reporting that Batshuayi is the subject of advanced talks between Chelsea and Wolves.

Wolves are in the market for a new centre-forward. Last season, they had no players to reach double figures in terms of goals.

They were recently said to have made an approach for Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton-Diaz. Now, though, links with Batshuayi are emerging.

It is suggested that the deal would be another season-long loan, even though that would take him up to the end of his contract with Chelsea in 2023.

There have also been claims that Chelsea could cover a portion of Batshuayi’s wages while he is away from Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi could work for Wolves

There is reason to believe that Batshuayi would be a good signing by Wolves. He scored 14 goals in 33 league games for Besiktas last season.

His previous two loan spells in the Premier League with Palace gave conflicting ideas. In 2019, he scored five goals from 11 Premier League games; in 2020-21, he only got two from 18.

But it is obvious he has rediscovered his goalscoring touch since. Wolves would clearly benefit from a new centre-forward.

If Batshuayi can maintain the form he has enjoyed in Turkey, he would be exactly what Wolves need. It would be up to him to prove he can keep up those standards.

As he approaches the age of 29, he just needs to find some continuity, which will more than likely be away from Chelsea.

As for the Blues, they know they will be relying on the likes of Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling for goals this season. Whether they will be on the lookout for another centre-forward, or could give a chance to someone like Armando Broja, remains to be seen.
