Inter Milan's loan interest in Trevoh Chalobah emerged last night after Chelsea secured the signing of young midfielder Cesare Casadei.

Chalobah is currently happy at Stamford Bridge but that position could change if the potential signing of Leicester’s Wesley Fofana knocks him further down the defensive pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Loanee Romelu Lukaku has personally recommended Chalobah to Inter's transfer decision-makers and they have since expressed an interest in signing the Blues academy graduate.

Chelsea are still in protracted negotiations over Fofana, having seen two bids worth up to £70million rejected so far.

Fofana has told Leicester chiefs that he wants to move to Chelsea and avoid the club selling him for a world-record fee for a defender.

Chelsea have concerns over the fee after seeing the criticism Harry Maguire has faced following his £80m move from Leicester to Manchester United in 2019.

Meanwhile, Casadei's move to Chelsea is effectively done with an announcement expected imminently.

The 19-year-old is set to remain in west London for the coming season and will split his time between training with the first team and playing for the Under-21s.

Chelsea have paid Inter £12.6m for Casadei, with a further £4.2m possible in add-ons. It takes the club’s academy spending to over £40m this summer and overall spending on the men's operation to more than £170m with further business being discussed.

As well as Fofana, the Blues are in negotiations to sign both Everton winger Anthony Gordon and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
