Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez angers Gary Neville the same way Bruno Fernandes does
Gary Neville has the same frustration with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as he does with Bruno Fernandes.
The Manchester United legend was at Stamford Bridge to watch Enzo Maresca lose his first Premier League match to Manchester City. Goals from Erling Haaland and former Blue Mateo Kovacic consigned the west Londoners to a 2-0 home defeat.
Maresca, 44, made a huge call at the Bridge when he decided to hand Fernandez the captaincy with Reece James serving a suspension. With the microscope on the Argentine, Neville was not impressed with his performance or attitude.
In fact, he hammered the £107million man with the same criticism he gave to the United skipper. After Fernandez threw his arms in the air and blasted his team-mates for not being committed enough to their press, Neville hit out at the World Cup winner.
The Sky Sports co-commentator and pundit said: "Enzo Fernandez presses when he can't win it a lot. He then throws up his arms to his team-mates as if to say, 'Where were you?' He is not kidding anyone.
"I thought Chelsea would take more a few more risks on the ball. But they have been quite basic. The Chelsea midfield are being run ragged."

Neville's comments were similar to those he has aimed at Fernandes in the past. The Portuguese midfielder has frequently been criticised for gesticulating at his team-mates by throwing his arms into the air and moaning.
When United lost 7-0 to Liverpool, Neville was infuriated by Fernandes' attitude and body language throughout the game. "I'm going to start with Bruno Fernandes," Neville began.
"I've had enough of him throwing his arms around at his teammates, I've had enough of him not running back. He whinges at everybody.
"He got pushed in the chest and goes down holding his face...he's got to put in a captain's performance out there and that wasn't a captain's performance by a Manchester United player. I think Erik ten Hag will deal with him very, very strongly in this next 24-48 hours."
When Fernandes hit back at Neville in another interview, the former defender doubled down on his criticism. He said: "I don't talk to any United fan that likes the way Fernandes behaves particularly when the team are losing, when he throws his arms around.
"As a football player, he's been fantastic for United, his goals and assists. He says he doesn't cause a problem when he throws his arms around, he does.
"I played with Roy who would hand out the odd rollicking. The last few years there's been players at United tutting which I think is a different type of criticism, it doesn't help young players.
"I called it out when Cristiano was doing it a couple of years ago, I don't like it. Direct criticism is fine. He is passionate, he is emotional, he gets involved with the referee. I've got no problem with that. Every United man I speak to feels the same thing, sometimes he goes over the top."
Fernandez and his Chelsea team-mates have an opportunity to gain some momentum when they face Swiss side Servette FC in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
