Chelsea once again made headlines this week with the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine leaving after a single season in charge of the club. This was seen as a shock to most, with the former Tottenham coach seemingly turning things around with the London club.

Chelsea had ended the season in good form, winning its final five league games of the season and finishing the campaign in sixth in the table to qualify for Europe. Pochettino's side lost only once in the final three months of the season and the hope was he could improve in his second season. Yet there isn't to be one.

Several players could leave Chelsea now in the wake of Pochettino's departure from Stamford Bridge. Two of them could be Conor Gallagher and Trevor Chalobah.

According to the Evening Standard, Pochettino was prepared to fight to keep both players at the club this summer. Chelsea need to sell in order to balance the books, and with Pochettino now gone, both players could be sold to bring in some much-needed money.

Gallagher has a fan in Jürgen Klopp, with the now-departed former Liverpool boss singing the midfielder's praises when he was on loan at Crystal Palace in the 2021-22 season.

“Gallagher, I’m not sure if we can still say he’s a ‘talent’ when he plays for [England] U21, but he’s a really, really good player,” Klopp said ahead of a meeting with Palace in September 2021 (via This Is Anfield). Gallagher stayed with Palace for the duration of the 2021-22 season before going back to Chelsea.

He emerged as one of Pochettino's key midfielders last season, making 37 league appearances and scoring five goals. However, with Klopp leaving Anfield and Arne Slot arriving as his replacement, Liverpool may not show any interest in potentially signing the 24-year-old this summer.

The Reds have been linked with Gallagher over the past year or so. Even after the closure of last summer's window, with Liverpool having signed four new midfielder, the England international was still being tipped for a move to Anfield.

Chelsea needs to comply with the Premier League's PSR regulations by June 30, and will therefore likely need to offload players soon. Gallagher graduated through Chelsea's youth academy, which means his sale would represent pure profit for the Stamford Bridge club.

Liverpool.com says: Gallagher was always held in esteem by Klopp, but with the German now gone from Anfield, it's unclear whether Slot holds the same high opinion. But should Liverpool want to make an approach for him, they could sign him for relatively little considering he only has one year on his contract.
