Chelsea were incredibly active in the summer transfer market with plenty of incomings and outgoings talking place at Stamford Bridge. Due to the sheer size of the squad at Enzo Maresca's disposal, a large chunk of players exited SW6 on loan for the remainder of the season.

As ever, those to depart headed across the globe in their search for valuable first-team minutes. So how exactly did they fare for their respective clubs over the weekend?

Andrey Santos, Caleb Wiley and Djordje Petrovic (Strasbourg)

Strasbourg may have lost 2-1 away at OGC Nice on Sunday but it was a proud day for Andrey Santos as he captained the Ligue 1 side for the very first time. The midfielder has made a real impression at the French club and Liam Rosenior believed it was right to award him with the captain's armband in Habib Diarra's absence.

"He was great. He constantly shows professionalism every day in his work, he constantly wants to improve and constantly trains at 100%," said the former Hull City boss when speaking to Get French Football News. "There were other players that had a worthy cause to be captain but I felt that Andrey was the right choice. I felt that he didn't do the armband any disservice at all."

All three of Chelsea's Strasbourg loanees featured in the match as Djordje Petrovic and Caleb Wiley also started. In what was Wiley's first start in Ligue 1 since the end of August following his recent injury woes, the American played 45 minutes but unfortunately made way at the break due to injury.

Strasbourg's next game comes away at Brest on Saturday evening.

Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors)

Aaron Anselmino played no part for Boca Juniors in their 0-0 draw with Huracan due to a hamstring injury. The defender was also absent three days earlier for their 1-0 home win over Union Santa Fe.

Eddie Beach (Crawley Town)

Eddie Beach was back on the bench for Crawley Town on Saturday following his recent absence through injury. The shot-stopper's only appearance for the League One club this season came in their EFL Trophy victory against Brighton & Hove Albion's Under-21s.

Lesley Ugochukwu (Southampton)

Starts have been hard to come by for Lesley Ugochukwu since joining Southampton on loan during the summer transfer window. The midfielder did play 38 minutes of Saints' 3-2 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday after replacing Paul Onuachu not long after the half-time interval.

In the Daily Echo's player ratings, Ugochukwu came out with a score of six out of ten. They wrote: "An improved performance from the Frenchman, who replaced Onuachu. Was faultless in possession with 100 per cent pass success and can be pleased."

Southampton return to action away on Friday away at Brighton & Hove Albion, a game Ugochukwu will be hoping to start as the south coast club look to register their second win of the season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga (Bournemouth)

Kepa Arrizabalaga was also on the losing side on Saturday as Brighton won 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. The visitors netted two brilliant goals beyond the Spaniard as Joao Pedro opened the scoring with a well-worked move, before then turning provider with a sublime pass that Kaoru Mitoma finished off in style.

Bournemouth's next game comes against Wolves as they travel to Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Trevoh Chalobah (Crystal Palace)

Trevoh Chalobah continues to get the minutes in the tank at Crystal Palace after starting his sixth successive game for the Eagles in their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa. Oliver Glasner's side were on track to secure all three points but Ross Barkely restored parity on 77 minutes with a brilliant header from Youri Tielemans' corner.

Palace remain in the drop zone and they face a big game on Saturday when Newcastle United make the trip to the capital.

Luke Campbell (Hendon)

Goalkeeper Luke Campbell continues to aid his development at Hendon after playing in their 9-0 triumph over Hastings United on Saturday.

Gabriel Slonina (Barnsley)

Gabriel Slonina looks set to be on the sidelines until next month after recently damaging a ligament in his finger. Speaking to the Barnsley Chronicle, Tykes boss Darrell Clarke issued an update on the shot-stopper.

“He’s out four to six weeks," he said. "Unfortunately he did it in the warm-up the other week. The good news is he doesn’t need operating on. We will link up with Chelsea to try to get him back as quick as possible.”

Barnsley lost 1-0 at home to Wigan Athletic in Slonina's absence on Saturday.

Leo Castledine (Shrewsbury Town)

Remaining in League One, it was a memorable day for Leo Castledine and Shrewsbury Town on Saturday as they sprung a major surprise with a 3-2 win over high-flying Birmingham City. The youngster played the full match as Gareth Ainsworth's team picked up only their third win of the season to give their survival hopes a boost.

Shrewsbury now have to follow up their result next Wednesday when they host Blackpool in the league.
