What Chelsea takeover would mean for Enzo Maresca amid Todd Boehly and Clearlake 'civil war' claim
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been warned he could face even more uncertainty depending on how the takeover saga concludes at Stamford Bridge.
Over the course of the weekend, reports claimed that Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital's Behdad Eghbali's relationship has reached breaking point. It is claimed that while Boehly and Eghbali were never overly close, the pair are now further apart than ever before.
It further claimed by The Financial Times that the source of the tension has come from Boehly's side. The American businessman is said to be unhappy with the new recruitment strategy Chelsea enforced in the summer transfer window.
He is also been left displeased by the lack of progress being made on renovating Stamford Bridge. At the moment, the indication is that Eghbali is keen to remain at Chelsea no matter what but Boehly wishes to buy him out.
football.london understands Chelsea's co-owners are exploring options on how to move forward although no formal talks over this surprise shift have taken place. Boehly and Eghbali's relationship is described as still being professional.
Now, according to journalist Ben Jacobs on The Byline, should Boehly assume control of Eghbali's stake in the club, Maresca would need to brace himself for another big overhaul at the club. Speaking on the podcast, Jacobs said: "If Boehly did assume control, there could be another massive overhaul which could cause more instability."
Such a warning is likely to fill the Italian manager as well as his players, staff and the club's fans full of dread. Chelsea were the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer with just over £200m splashed on new signings. Eyebrows were raised with this transfer strategy particularly considering the Blues were already well-stocked with players for numerous positions.

Maresca's men also went with an unorthodox approach to parting ways with some long-standing members of the squad. Raheem Sterling was informed in a press conference that he would have no minutes this season if he chose to stay.
Ben Chilwell has also been informed of the same fate with Chelsea appearing to be looking at loan moves to Turkey for him. The Blues have had a mix start to the season with one win, one draw and one defeat to their name in the Premier League.
