West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has been advised that he should snub Chelsea and join their Premier League rivals Arsenal instead.
The Hammers star has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons and it is only a matter of time before he moves elsewhere.
This looks likely to happen next summer with West Ham conceding that it is time to let him join a club competing near the top of the table.
The same report suggested that he is valued at around £75m ahead of the summer. West Ham are looking to make as much money as they can on Rice before his contract expires in 2024.
Club legend Mark Noble recently admitted that West Ham “ain’t got a chance” of keeping Rice when push comes to shove.
“We can try our hardest to recruit the best players that the top five or six don’t buy – and we might get lucky with a few that slip through the net – but you can’t compete with these teams,” Noble admitted.
“They’re financially too powerful. If a top club wants Declan Rice they’re just going to pay for him, full stop. You’ve seen it with Jack Grealish, with the best players.
“If the top boys want them, we ain’t got a chance.”
Rice used to play for Chelsea when he was a teenager and they have understandably been linked with him a lot in recent years.
But Arsenal appear to have joined the race to sign him, with it even being claimed that they have made a ‘huge offer’ to recruit him in the coming months.
The Gunners are in a much better position than Chelsea. They are top of the Premier League while the Blues are down in tenth.
Club legend Emmanuel Petit has argued that a move to Arsenal over Chelsea would make sense for Rice.
“I know that Chelsea wants him, but if I were Declan Rice, I wouldn’t go to Chelsea, I would go to Arsenal,” Petit told Compare.Bet.
“The two clubs are going in different directions and the way Arsenal is playing.
“He would be the perfect option for Arsenal.”
Earlier this month, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Rice “really admires” Arsenal.
“Declan Rice really admires Arsenal and what they are doing at the moment and the feeling is quite mutual,” Jacobs said on Curtis Shaw Tv.
“So there’s nothing advanced on the Arsenal end but they don’t really need to worry about entering the race just now, because it’s only going to take place during the summer.
“So I think it’s one to watch after the window shuts. There’s definitely some substance in the links but we have to be very clear that Manchester United and Chelsea are further along at the moment.”
