Chelsea tipped to stun Tottenham, Man Utd with Pochettino ‘asking’ to reunite with supreme 290-goal striker
Mauricio Pochettino is being tipped to kick off his Chelsea era with an audacious request to sign England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham.
The Argentine coach has verbally agreed to take charge of the Blues and he will be charged with kickstarting a bright new era at Stamford Bridge. And Todd Boehly will hope the former Tottenham boss is the man who can finally get the best out of their star-studded squad.
Despite spending in excess of £500m, the Blues are under-performing badly. Indeed, they currently sat an embarrassing 11th in the Premier League table. And with interim boss Frank Lampard suffering five straight losses since replacing the sacked Graham Potter, it seems Pochettino will have his work cut out.
Still, the only way is surely up and this article looks at five reasons to be cheerful for Chelsea fans.
While Chelsea await to official ratify his appointment, Pochettino is already seemingly putting plans in place for the Blues. And he will spend the remaining games on the season assessing both his current squad and considering which new targets to bring in.
To that, Fabrizio Romano claims Pochettino has already set his sights on two new midfield acquisitions for Chelsea.
However, there is also a common assumption that Pochettino will also look to fix their long-standing striker issues.
The Blues remain without a regular source of goals from a No 9. And despite lavishing vast sums on the likes of Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, they continue to struggle in attack.
However, a solution may reportedly be sought with an ambitious move for Kane, according to one source.

Pochettino to ‘ask the question’ over Harry Kane move
Of course, a move across London would be a hugely-controversial move for Kane. The two clubs have a long-standing rivalry and the move would infuriate the majority of Spurs fans.
But with just a year left on his deal, Tottenham will reportedly consider offers if Kane fails to extend.
That will open the door for a plethora of suitors to make their move.
And while Spurs will still be seeking a fee of around £100m for a striker who has a total of 290 senior goals, the fee is unlikely to put his admirers off.
That hunt is seemingly being led by Manchester United, where Erik ten Hag is reportedly desperate to sign the striker.
However, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey reckons Chelsea will at least ‘ask the question’ about bringing Kane to Stamford Bridge.
And speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, Bailey believes Pochettino’s move to Chelsea at least gives them a chance.
“I said last week when we heard this rumour… It’s interesting to speak about the rivalry that is there, but it’s not Arsenal vs Tottenham!
“We know they [Chelsea] love [Victor] Osimhen and they’re going to go for him.”
Controversial transfer appears unlikely
Turning attention to Kane, Bailey added: “I’d be amazed if he didn’t ask the question. During talks, Harry Kane will have come up, they will have asked Pochettino about Kane, of course they would.”
Kane certainly enjoyed a great relationship with Pochettino when the Argentine was in charge of Tottenham.
Despite Bailey’s claims, though, Chelsea’s lack of Champions League football would surely count against them. And if Kane is to leave N17, a move to one of Real Madrid, Bayern or United looks more likely.
