After another midweek filled with European action, Chelsea again return to Premier League action this weekend as they take on Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues host Thomas Frank’s side on Sunday, with kick-off at the unusual time of 7pm. It’s a slot that is unusual for Premier League games, but this weekend will see it used for two clashes.

Tottenham’s trip to Southampton also kicks off at the same time. But, while that game has been moved for TV coverage, Chelsea’s game is not being shown live on TV.

Instead, the reason for the different kick-off is due to the journey that Chelsea had for their midweek UEFA Conference League game. Enzo Maresca and his squad had a round trip of 16 hours to and from Kazakhstan for Thursday afternoon’s clash against Astana.

Goals from Marc Guiu (x2) and Renato Veiga saw the Blues come out as 3-1 winners in freezing conditions. It leaves them top of the league standings in the competitions.

The long journey to and from the game means that their Premier League match against Brentford this weekend has been pushed back to the latest slot available. That is 7pm on Sunday night.

Chelsea go into the game looking to solidify their place in second position in the Premier League table, and even close the gap on league leaders Liverpool. They do face a tough test in Brentford, although their away form has been somewhat different to their home with the side winless on their travels so far this season.

Chelsea, meanwhile have won their last four Premier League games, scoring 14 goals in the process.
