Manchester City are reigning champions after beating Liverpool to the finish line in a neck-and-neck 2021/22 title race where a comeback win on the final day of the season against Aston Villa secured a fourth title in five years for Pep Guardiola's side.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on course for a quadruple last season but were forced to settle for just an FA Cup and Carabao Cup win and will return trying to win the title again just as they did in 2020.

With their win earlier in the season against the Blues at Craven Cottage, Fulham have managed to take four points off Chelsea this season. They sit in sixth with 32 points, though Brighton are right on their tails with 31 points and two games in hand. Ninth-placed Chelsea will hope that Liverpool also drop points this gameweek so that the Merseyside club do not leapfrog them in the table and leave them even further behind in the race to top four.

After a first half that lacked any full-blown chances, both sides became much more frantic in the second fourty-five minutes. Chelsea, despite their investment, remained toothless in front of goal. Record-breaking signing Fernandez almost scored a rocket that was just wide before Fofana's open-goal shot was thwarted off the line by Ream.
