Cheltenham Festival 2023: Mares' Chase tips - Allegorie De Vassy leads Mullins charge
This is a newly established renewal that replaced the Novices' Handicap Chase in 2021, so winning trends are not easy to identify.
What is interesting, however, is that last year's winner (Elimay) and runner-up (Pink Legend) are contesting again, but are both unfancied at 25/1 and 40/1 respectively, so previous history apparently counts for little against more highly-rated mares.
One of those is the well-supported Allegorie De Vassy who is jostling with Impervious for the favourite tag at the top of the betting.
A tendency to jump to the right might be a concern round the left-handed Cheltenham track, but four wins since moving to the Mullins yard suggest this mare has the quality to overcome that potential weak link.

Lower down the market, Rivere D'etel has been given an extended break since quick back-to-back appearances appeared to contribute to a poor display last time out at Carlisle in November.
Prior to that, however, she looked a class act, stringing several impressive runs together, and with Davy Russell in the saddle she will be in the hands of a jockey who knows how to bring the best out of his rides.
