Cheltenham Festival 2023: Triumph Hurdle tips - Lossiemouth heads strong Mullins hand
The JCB Triumph Hurdle dates back to the 1950s and is unusually a briskly-run affair made up as it is of juvenile hurdlers with just eight obstacles to contend with over two miles and a furlong.
It is usually seen as a stepping stone to bigger Festival races, as proved by last year's 6/4 winner Vauban graduating to a fourth-placed finish in this year's Champion Hurdle.
Willie Mullins holds a strong hand in this day four opener, with the top three in the betting market all trained by the master of Closutton.
Lossiemouth is the favourite at the time of writing, and with leading jockey Paul Townend on board he should have too much for stablemates Blood Destiny and Gala Marceau.

If any of those top three falter, then there is plenty of each way value elsewhere, and Jupiter Du Gite might be an interesting outsider if he can replicate the form that caused a 66/1 upset on his hurdle debut at Newbury in December.
He ran much too freely round this trip in January but if returning jockey Niall Houlihan can rein him in then he could well outrun his huge price. Each-way popular punt:Jupiter Du Gite
