Cherokee Nation announces dates for traditional games

Mar. 12—Dates for the Cherokee Nation's traditional native games have been announced for April.

Festivities open on Saturday, April 13, with a cornstalk shoot, horseshoes, marbles, chunkey, hatchet throw and a stickball shootout.

The top three placers will earn a shirt, a cash prize and a spot in this fall's championship round during the Cherokee National Holiday traditional games.

The event is held at One Fire Field at Sequoyah High School. Registration starts 30 minutes before each event. The games are free to the public.
