CHERRIES Women have made two new additions to their squad ahead of this weekend's season opener against St Austell.

Steve Cuss's side have been bolstered by the arrivals of Lauren Kelly and Jess Treweek.

Left-back Kelly joins from neighbours Poole Town, having also gained experience playing for Swanage and Pro-Direct Dorset.

Prior to that, the defender trained with Oaklands Arsenal, a college system linked with the Gunners.

Treweek arrives from Hampshire-based AFC Stoneham.

She was previously on the books at both Southampton and Reading.

“We’re absolutely delighted to bring both Jess and Lauren to AFC Bournemouth,” boss Cuss told Cherries' website.

“They’re two great players who will strengthen the squad and they’ve both settled in really well during pre-season.

“The first game is just around the corner, so to have them sign ahead of that is real boost for us and just we can’t wait for it all to get underway now.”

Cherries begin their National League campaign against St Austell at Ringwood Town on Sunday (3pm), with free entry for all.
