Must-have pick – Harry Kane

They say ‘once bitten, twice shy’. Not for me when it comes to Harry Kane. Despite failing to score last weekend and effectively blanking in seven league games since August, I think he is an essential pick against West Brom.

He scored midweek in the Champions’ League against Borussia Dortmund, which certainly is no mean feat. What’s interesting is that in the four league games that Harry Kane has scored in this season he has netted braces, rather than solitary goals. This is testament to his potency.

After all, he’s had 64 shots on goal in 11 appearances since Gameweek 1. Tottenham will be looking to make the most of a rudderless Baggies team who have conceded eight goals in their last three league games and recently sacked Tony Pulis. Without wanting to sound too wishful, it’s the kind of match in which Harry Kane could score yet another brace.

Comeback pick – Paul Pogba

The France international came back from injury with a bang, scoring a goal and providing an assist, as Manchester United hammered Newcastle United 4-1. To put that influence into context, the Red Devils had only scored four goals in their previous four Premier League games.

Manchester United have now won four of the five Premier League games in which Paul Pogba has started this season. With seven attacking returns in the league already, there’s no doubt that he will easily exceed his tally of goals and assists from last season (five and four respectively).

The fact that his team trail Manchester City by eight points in the table at this early stage will serve as extra motivation to continue the momentum of scoring and winning.

Differential pick – Callum Wilson

In many respects he can probably also be considered as a comeback pick. But he has already announced his return in style with a hat-trick last weekend after only his second start of the season.

Callum Wilson has been unfortunate with injuries over the past two years. In spite of his time off the pitch, he has still managed to average a goal every 165 minutes since his Premier League debut, which is more than reasonable.

What’s impressive with his recent form is that he has scored three goals from four shots on target, which shows that he is clinical in front of goal. Fitness permitting, he should be Bournemouth’s leading striker for the foreseeable future. The Cherries face a Swansea team that have the worst home record in the league this season, which bodes well for Callum Wilson to be successful in front of goal again.
