Must-have pick – Mohamed Salah

Fresh from playing an influential role in demolishing Manchester City and ending their unbeaten run, I can’t look beyond Mohamed Salah as an essential pick for Gameweek 24.

The Egypt international has now scored 18 Premier League goals this season, only two less than Harry Kane and with far fewer shots on goal. In fact, such is Salah’s consistency that he has scored or assisted in 13 of the last 14 Premier League matches that he has featured in.

This shows his reliability as a coveted premium player and also demonstrates his attacking prowess for most of the season to date. Liverpool are due to travel to the Liberty Stadium in their next match.

The Swans currently have the worst Premier League home record, where as Liverpool have the joint second best away record. I would fully expect the Reds to maintain their winning form with Salah once again being involved in their goals.

Comeback pick – Paul Pogba

2+2 is 4: Paul Pogba has had four assists in his last two games, pulling him level on nine assists with Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane.
2+2 is 4: Paul Pogba has had four assists in his last two games, pulling him level on nine assists with Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane.

He may not have scored in the Premier League since November, but that shouldn’t undermine his recent key contributions. Paul Pogba has assisted four of Manchester United’s five goals in their last two outings.

Of course, he struggled during the festive period to score or assist despite getting ample rest after his three game ban. However, he has been selfless in assisting his teammates and in turn has been instrumental in United’s recent victories.

In some ways he has been unlucky not to score, having registered 23 shots on goal in his last five games. His lack of goals is a concern. But he’s due, that’s for sure.

Manchester United’s next opponents Burnley, have only conceded eight goals since August at home. As impressive as that sounds, it shouldn’t be a major concern for a Manchester United team that has scored two or more goals in their last five Premier League away games.

Differential pick – Callum Wilson

South coast surprise: Callum Wilson has scored three and assisted another in four games for the Cherries.
South coast surprise: Callum Wilson has scored three and assisted another in four games for the Cherries.

Having scored a hat-trick earlier in the season, you would have been forgiven to think that Callum Wilson was possibly back to his pre-injury best.

Unfortunately it ushered in a torrid run of form during which he failed to score in his next six league appearances. However, he’s managed to overcome this rut by scoring three goals and attaining an assist in his last four starts.

Bournemouth are only four points away from the relegation zone and will rely more than ever on his goals to keep them safe. With Jermaine Defoe out injured and questions over Josh King’s fitness, he should be free from being rotated.

The Cherries travel to the London Stadium and play a Hammers team that has conceded in each of their last five matches. It may serve as the ideal opportunity for Wilson to continue his recent goal scoring run.
