Chloe Kim to make own endorsement deals after 18th birthday

The gold medal in the snowboard halfpipe. The incredible backstory. The ice cream tweets in between runs.

Chloe Kim has turned into a viral superstar at the PyeongChang Olympics, and she’s set to be one of the most marketable athletes snowboarding has ever seen. That is, after she turns 18 in April.

Kim, 17, came into these Olympic games with deals with Nike, Burton and Oakley from when she turned pro at 13, as well as Toyota, Visa, Mondelez (Ritz and Oreo), Samsung, Monster Energy and Amore Pacific’s Laneige, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Usually top Olympians sign long-term deals that span from one Olympics to the next. But Kim’s father, Jong Jin, wanted Chloe to have more control over her deals once she turns 18, a wish that Kim’s agent, Lowell Taub of CAA, abided by. That means when Kim turns 18 on April 23, all of her deals will be on the table.

Kim’s bubbly personality, social media presence and major success in PyeongChang will make her one of the top targets for a variety of companies, and because she is so young, Taub will be able to sell long-term deals to a wide variety of potential partners.
