Paul's promotional team have claimed that Rahman Jr was unable to reach the 'maximum weight' of 200lbs and pulled the plug on the bout less than two weeks before it was due to take place.
"First Tommy Fumbled and now Hasim Rahman Crumbled," Paul tweeted. "These boxers are the most difficult people to work with and continually lack professionalism and confidence to fight me. I apologize to all of the of the other fighters on the card, our partners, our team and the fans."
Now Chris Eubank Jr has offered to fight Paul to save the whole event, which has many questioning why a professional fighter would call out a social media star, if not to just raise his own profile for a fight that is incredibly unlikely to go ahead.
"Fumbles & Crumbles are not 'boxers' they are guys who put gloves on every now & again for clout… no different to you," said Eubank Jr replying to Paul's cancellation Tweet. "I'm fighting in a couple months but I can squeeze you into my schedule next week & save your show if you have the heart to get into the ring with a REAL boxer."
It's the latest step in an ongoing saga to find Paul a partner after Tommy Fury withdrew from their fight last month, which led to Rahman Jr becoming the substitute.
Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) claimed Rahman had signed an agreement on July 6 to fight at 200lbs, but had only managed to drop one pound during a weight check on Friday, leaving him at 215lb. New York State Athletic Commission (NYASC) declared it would not sanction a bout unless it was held at 205lbs, which Paul was prepared to agree on but then ditched the fight after Rahman's team said they wouldn't fight unless a 215lb was permitted. Rahman Jr responded on Twitter by saying: "Jake and his "team" cancelled this fight, not me! The fight isn't happening on there accord not MINE!"
