It seems Chris Sutton's son Ollie could be a chip off the old block after all.

He netting his first ever goal at the age of 28 as Norfolk based Isthmian League North Division outfit Wroxham ran out 5-2 winners over Grays Athletic on Saturday. In Sutton Jr's defence, he is a goalkeeper so his lack of goals up until now is understandable. Dad banged them in for Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea not so much and Celtic during a trophy laden career.

Now he can say that two generations of Suttons are goalscorers after Wroxham keeper and captain Ollie put the gloss on their win with their final goal. A long boot from hands downfield bounced over one defender and bamboozled the Grays keeper, whose attempts to keep it out left a lot to be desired.

And Sutton couldn't resist a cheeky celebration to mark the occasion. dad Chris struck up a lethal partnership with England and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer during their Ewood Park days, firing Blackburn Rovers to the 1995 English Premier League title. Rumours that the pair didn't get circulated for years before Sutton squashed them, insisting he got on fine with the league's greatest ever goalscorer.

And after Grays fans had spent the game chanting Shearer at Sutton, calling him 'son of Shearer,' the goalie simply had to celebrate his strike by copying the Geordie's iconic one raised arm celebration, which was greeted with chants of 'Shearer! Shearer!' from the home fans, who saw the funny.

So too, dud proud dad Sutton, He shared footage of Ollie's goal on X, posting: "Contender for goal of the season from Ollie… followed by a Shearer like celebration to the Grays FC support who called him son of Shearer all afternoon Beautiful. GIRUY."
