Erik Ten Hag has spoken of his delight at having signed Christian Eriksen.

The Manchester United manager welcomed the Danish international into Old Trafford as his second signing of the summer, with Eriksen having left Brentford upon the expiration of his contract.

Eriksen signed a three-year contract last week after choosing to move to United ahead of staying in west London.

After suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, the 30-year-old made a stunning return to elite football and played a key role in helping Brentford ease away from the relegation zone after his arrival.

Prior to moving back to the Premier League, Eriksen trained with Ten Hag’s Ajax, the club with whom he made his initial breakthrough as a teenager.

“He’s an experienced player. He plays in countries abroad, in Italy, in Holland, a long time in England, so he knows the Premier League,” the Dutchman told United’s official website.

“It’s an absolute advantage that we have him in.

“I think he is a magnificent football player and I think the fans will enjoy watching him, because he’s creative, he has ideas.

“I think especially our strikers will also be happy because he’s the one who can involve them in the game.”

Lisandro Martinez will become United’s third signing of the summer after the club struck a deal with Ajax to sign the Argentina international.

Pre-season has so far been successful for Ten Hag, albeit it is hard to draw any definite judgements from their big wins over Liverpool and Melbourne Victory.

Next up for United on their Australian tour is a meeting with Premier League counterparts Crystal Palace on Tuesday in Melbourne
