Christian Eriksen voices frustration at lack of game time at Inter Milan under Antonio Conte

Christian Eriksen has stated his unhappiness at starting this season largely on the bench for Inter Milan.

The Danish attacking midfielder left Tottenham for Serie A partway through last season and, despite starting reasonably well, has quickly found himself sidelined.

Antonio Conte has a host of midfield options to call upon, meaning rotation has been seen with some players, but Eriksen isn’t keen to prolong his time waiting.

"I don't want to sit the bench for the whole season," he said to reporters while on international duty.

"I hope this isn't the coach's or the club's intention. It is going to be a busy season, lot of games in the programme, I expect to play.

“It's never nice to sit the bench and one tends to be less patient as his experience grows.”

Eriksen says a lack of end product as the team’s creative hub may have left him seen as a failure already in the eyes of some onlookers.

"There are many expectations on me, people thought I'd do the difference in every game, but it didn't happen. That's why they are looking at me with different eyes.

“I've had highs and lows after the lockdown. I had a great start with Inter after I arrived and now I am living in a new situation.”

The 28-year-old has managed just 73 minutes in Serie A this term and is yet to score or assist.
